Before the Wink is added to an account (unpaired behavior), it operates in two distinct modes:

1. SLEEP MODE -  default state for shipping

• This is the mode the Wink is in straight out of the box.

• The device remains undiscoverable to ensure battery preservation and secure transport.

• The presence sensor is turned off, so the device will not react to nearby movement.

2. PAIRING MODE - is when the device has been powered on (either via USB or direct DC power)

• The camera and presence sensor automatically turn on.

• A red indicator light appears, showing that no face has been registered yet.

• If there is no interaction for 180 seconds, the Wink will return to Sleep Mode.

• To wake it and re-enable broadcasting for pairing, simply wave your hand over the top of the device.

This quick gesture reactivates the sensors and makes the Wink discoverable again.
